With the humor of New Yorker cartoons and Brott's gentle approach, The Expectant Father serves as a friendly and listenable companion for dads-to-be seeking confidence, guidance, and joy!

I highly recommend getting this book in some form. Well written with relevant information and none of the demeaning or juvenile humor that often overpowers these types of books. The only problem and it is a significant one is that the author often references the PDF that accompanies the book and there is no pdf. I will probably get the print version so I have all the information. Update, the PDF cannot be found on the audible app. It is in the audible library on the computer.

While this is better than no PDF, it is inconvenient when you are trying to look up questions to ask when interviewing doctors. This book is full of crank ideas based almost entirely on single studies and seems to rely on correlation, not science, to make suggestions. I lost it when he suggested swallowing semen helps prevent preeclampsia, and smelling farts lower blood pressure.

Honestly, the way this guy approaches the subject, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he was anti-vaxx or something. It's unhelpful and useless. A lot of information useful only for USA residents, such as tax or insurance. Too detailed at times. Biased at times. Lots of common sense information. May have been better as actual book where irrelevant sections can be skipped. I loved this book.

It quelled many fears of mine and introduced new challenges I never realized were headed my way. More importantly I imlreased my wife not only by simply reading the book but by sharing my learnings with her.

Brott has a gentle and humorous delivery that felt grandfatherly. I will be reading this again as we move towards the big day. Excellent intro to pregnancy. Most of the advice is given with an objective POV and there isn't a lot of fear mongering. The authors sincerely want to help and the book was written with both a male and female perspectives so it's not too one sided. To expectant fathers, take what advice sounds good to you and take advice from a.

To the author's, thanks for a great book, you have soothed a lot of my anxiety. I loved how informative it was, but I could only listen to it in about 3 hour chunks or I would start to get a bit of information overload.

Still great though since it covers just about everything in great detail. I'd recommend it for sure. I found this book contained almost nothing I or a mature adult male does not already know. I believe the book is targeted towards younger male parents to be, hence the extra star in recognition that the book does contain valuable information for others.

What an ego on this one. Good beginner book for those seeking a daddy type read. I appreciate that he goes through some of the cultural challenges we face as men being involved fathers. There were some useful facts and tips about the development of the baby and preparation. However, the focus on the medical costs and resources was designed for a US audience.

I actually read this just to follow along with my husband and we were also amused at the excessive concern around dealing with crazy pregnant women and how not to offend them. These did not reflect our experience at all.

If you communicate well with your partner this should not be an issue. The book provides plenty of helpful advice for all expectant dads. However, in all technical aspects from finance, health insurance to shopping advice, it is very US centred and of little use for those outside the United States.

I enjoyed listening to it in most parts, where the information was relevant to the UK or becoming a dad in general. Good enough. It's full of useful information based upon academic research. It's a tad "America-centric" though, focusing a lot on medical costs as a Spaniard, I don't know what that is or "dads on military deployment". I think this was a fantastic book.

Thank you Armin and Jennifer! A very interesting and informative listen. Full of simple and practical advice for fathers to be. I enjoying listening to this audio book and honestly there is a lot to take away from it.

A good general guide on what to expect during pregnancy. Got through it quickly. A lot of plugs for later books. Good content but can get bogged down into the US way of doing things - as a UK citizen those sections were less helpful but important if you are from there.

Good resource, probably one of the best available, it does get very American in sections but is mostly universal. This book was pivotal on preparing me to not only be a good father but also a good husband. Simple, easy to follow, essential for any father to be, 1st or not. Definitely worth your time. This was just far too hard work. It was so focused on American living, the American health system, and military, that it just makes it far too hard to get real information.

I bought this book to really get informed about all the information I needed; I just ended up so annoyed constantly waiting for the American parts to finish so I could just get the real info that mattered.

If you're not American, I wouldn't recommend listening to this audiobook. It's filled with an abundance of information about the American Hospital and insurance systems and includes a lot of chatter for deployed military dad's. Found a few things interesting but expected more. Might be good for dads who have absolutely zero idea about pregnancy and what their spouse is going through. Really powerful book giving a deep insight into what to expect as a father to be.

When my companion in addition to I discovered we were preparing for, I obtained this magazine so I can do my element to prepare. However I truly did not really identify whether it would certainly suffice.

Considering that our stunning youngster has actually turned up, I can examine precisely just how well this book prepared me. For me in addition to our circumstance, I can mention that this book had whatever I truly required to identify.

Review everything the approach with ASAP, just to acquire the huge photo, end- to- end. Afterwards rethink at each routine month-to-month phase as the months method.

As a benefit, what I really valued concerning this book was simply exactly how upgraded it is, its inclusiveness of varied conditions e. IVF in addition to active service expectant fathers , as well as its progressiveness. My partner fidgeted worrying the arrival of our baby our preliminary as well as the infant magazine that I had was a lot more focused around the modifications that I require to anticipate while expectant.

This have a fantastic recap of what he must prepare for in addition to I think have him some self-confidence with the expertise that he obtained. This is absolutely composed from an information point of view of the writers which appears to make it a lot more private as well as I really felt a lot easier to examine. It covers the topics in-depth as well as consists of private experiences to make ti additional relatable. To expectant fathers, take what advice sounds good to you and take advice from a.

Whole chapters are fairly useless to those outside the USA. The book contains a huge number of references to individual studies that found correlations between things - it's annoying and unclear which ones are actually highly thought of in the scientific community.

The authors often perpetuate the gender stereotypes they complain about in the book. This is especial true in the chapter about money. The book is very thorough in the topics it chooses to cover. The writing style was serious and dull but easy to follow. I enjoyed the inclusion of personal anecdotes.

I thought it was good. Only relevant if you live in USA!! Get Your Free Audiobook. Add to cart failed. Please try again later. Add to wishlist failed. Remove from wishlist failed.
